Default wth is up with this hack job frame work on my ladies 00 monte

To make a long story short my gf bought a nightmare of a car(00 monte ls) she got it for a steal but ive been left to pick up the pieces....it looks like they have had to cut the frame part that runs across the front and they also welded in these brackets, both sides are the samep. That are way to big for the lower control arm bushing to sit right? I ended up having to shim in a 2 1/2 inch steel hook eye type thing(just for the time being until i can find out wth is really goin on with this front frame work bs....

Whats everyone think of this? Anyone have pics of what a factory non hacked lol 00 monte front end is susposed to look like....ill have to post pics later of my temp. Fix that i did with the shims...

Is this pic with the tire off the ground an the strut pushing down on the lower arm ? It looks like it is not supported out on the end . put tire on then lower down on ground an look at it .

Looks about the same to me, the OP car needs a bushing but that's about it. Frame piece is identical.
