Default wont start!!!

I have a 2001 SS. About a week ago it wouldnt even turn over. I chargedthe batteryfor about 20 minutes and it started and it ran fine after that, untill this morning. I was about to leave to take a final in one of my class . It again wouldnt turn over. i live in Topeka Kansas and it has recently started to get pretty cold. Im not sure if that would have anything to do with it.

Also, there is some kind of fan that runs after i turn the car off. It will run for about 5 minutes, even if i only drove the car for 2 minutes in the cold. Is this fan supossed to run that long even when the engine is cold? is it possible that these problems are connected?

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated

P.S. the battery was replaced 6 months ago

When it doesn't start, does it do anything else? If the "security" message is flashing, then it's probably the Passlock. If so, leave the key turned to "on" until it stops flashing (it will take ten minutes) then turn it off and start it.

the fans stayin on is a key sign that there is a malfunction in the cooling system. is ur temp gauge working properly? many people have had thermostats go bad on them. As for the battery if u have a battery that is on the verge of goin bad, the cold can help it along and in turn the fans runnin may drain it and u will not be able to start the car. get ur battery checked at an auto parts store
