Default Wiper Issue

Hey guys, i'm trying to help my fiances mom out. She has an 03 Monte Carlo. She turns the wipers on, and the driver side will wipe off the windshield, it doesn't do it in one full swipe, it'll sometimes stop, and jerk and then come flying off the windshield.

The passengers side the entire time this is happening, is either not moving at all or only moving a few inches very slowly. and while it's moving up slowly, i can push it down pretty easily.

What could this be? I assume the motor is going out, but it could also be the pulse board module.. How hard is it to swap it out? Thanks!

I have not, I'm not in town right now. I just told her to go ahead and buy the motor and i'll check that when i get into it.

She did say it did it one time a few weeks ago, after it rained. and it went back to normal after a few days. Now it snowed on Christmas and it's been like that ever since.

Does anyone have any information on how to remove the motor?

you will have to lift the hood, take out the cowl with a few pop out plastic hold downs, and one plastic screw on each side. for taking off the wipers, you will have to take the bolt out, and use a wiper removal tool. pretty cheap under ten bucks. and everything should be visible from there

Ended up being the arms were stripped. They just caught a little bit which probably caused the drivers side to go crazy.

Happens sometimes, especially if you're driving in heavy snow and it's sticking to the windshield.
I was going to suggest checking that the bolts on the bottom of the arm (where it pivots) and making sure they are nice and tight, but it sounds like you got it taken care of.
