Default Windshield Wipers

I recently replaced the windshield wipers on my 2004 and the wipers are now acting up. The passenger side will only go about halfway up, then slam back down into the park position, then go about a third of the way up, then repeat always making an audible slam when it goes back down. The driver side will do the opposite. It will go up until it goes off the windshield entirely. They do park in the correct position.

I am not sure what is causing this. I don't thing it is the new wipers, but I don't know. I'm not very car savvy, so the simpler the better. Also, never posted before, so if incorrect, sorry.

The only thing I can think of is that the positioning got slightly off between removing the old and installed the new ones. Not even sure if that's possible but I've never messed with wiper arms. I believe these are a splined shaft with a nut, correct? I actually have two new wiper arms for my 06 to install this spring so I'll have to watch it and be aware when I do mine. Wish I had a service manual set for my 06 but I don't.
