Default whisleting brakes

04 SS < 11K Miles.

I have noticed that my brakes have started to whistle. Is that just a dirty rotor or signs the pads are about to go? I notice it start to brake and the pads touch the rotors, as I continue to break the noise seems to go away.

Thanks,
Ralph

Default RE: whisleting brakes

well what i would do first is go out on an open road at 55 60 mph and do a descent stop. not a regular city stop but you dont want to get the too hot. drive for a mile or so and do it again. repeat this about 10 time, this is burnishing the breaks. usually done when pads are replaced and the rotors resurfaced or replaced. otherwise it will develope a squeal probubly like what you are experiancing. if you dont notice a difference it could be bad pad material. good luck.
