I think the ps pump is getting ready to go.

The fluid is clean and at a normal level but when stopped and you turn the wheel a little, it gets whiney like a low level. Sometimes the whine is during acceleration as well. No leaks anywhere that I can see.

I have read some other threads about it possibly being the rack and pinion, and I don't want to just throw parts at it. The pump seems be the cheapest fix.

Any words of wisdom?

 

On 9/10 cars I see with a whine are the pump or a restriction in the pump screen.

 

fingers crossed....going to grab a pump and a pulley puller for a weekend project
