Default Whine

On my 05 Supercharged, I have come to notice a whine from the engine. It maily happens after a little bit of "aggressive driving". I have also come to notice that i REALLY WHINES when i am turning.. not like a hard turn but say i was turning a street corner at like 15 mph, as i accellerate it get really loud. Is this supposed to be happening? Note: it really only happens after a bit of harder driving. If i am just defensively driving and just cruising... no whine(atleast that i can hear).

Hi Captain,
How many miles on your Monte now ?
It sounds like it could be a bad power steering unit, or
low on fluid ? (that's a guess: )
or
Many members have reported that they have had problems
with the intermediate steering shaft. It's a issue
with several 6 Gen Monte's.
If it is the shaft the current fix is to replace the shaft
entirely which uses a nylon internal substance instead
of grease. Many member's have just re greased their
shaft : )

I hope one of our expert tech members post their opinion,
or solution on what it may `be.
It's difficult to diagnose from just words in a post, but
I hope that our tech member's can help you 4-Sure.
Good Luck

Hi Captain,
One thing my grandfather taught me to check on noises
from the engine area is to use a long screw driver
(or if you have access to a auto stethoscope) so you
can listen to parts on your engine that may cause a `whine
and help pin point a problem. I would listen to the
idle & tensioner pulley's, as well as the
alternator & power steering pump.
This has helped me pin point a problem,
but again this is just one way.
I don't know if you are mechanically inclined or hopefully
have a trusted mechanic that can check it out.

Check back on your thread to see what our expert tech
member's post...*I am no expert 4-Sure...
Good Luck

Check your power steering fluid.
