Opinion Needed: when did you change your water pump?
hello to all... I have a 2007 LS 3.5flex fuel with 65K on it currently. I am planning a cross country trip and am wondering if I should buy a water pump before I go. I was considering buying one and putting it in the trunk as insurance but do you think its necessary at my mileage? I think I remember my last monte's water pump going around 60 something but I can't remember. When did yours go? How long do they typically last? To buy or not to buy? Thanks to any opinions and info!
I've never owned a 3.5 but I cant imagine the water pump design is drastically better or worse than the other GM pumps.
Only one I ever had fail super early was on my LS4 at about 35k. All of my 3800 (and one 3100) pumps lasted past 100k miles.
Personally, unless it's a rare PN that isnt readily available at normal dealers / parts stores, I wouldn't bother buying one to bring with.

@bumpin96monte thanks much for your advice I appreciate the quick reply. I will not buy one and assume it will last. Leaving today 2,500 miles... been over seas good to be traveling in the US again.
thanks trip went well sorry for late reply my monte made the trip just fine another 4k on it with 0 problems just shy of 70k now still love it!
