Default What's that smell?

Last night while i was driving my car I got a burning smell coming through my vents it was just a smell no smoke. So pulled over and popped my hood but didn't see anything burning or smell anything from outside the car.So I turned off the heat and continued to drive and the smell went away but then it got cold and I turned it back on and the smell came back. The only thing i noticed is when i have it on the defroster i get the smell when I put it on the floor there's no smell.Does anyone know what could be causing this or has anyone ever heard of anything like this happening.

It might be time for you to replace the Cabin Air Filter. You might have stuff in it that got by the outside screen and is decomposing in there. Yes, it DOES happen. I wish I had a pic of my Cabin Air Filter to show you how NASTY that filter can get.

That was another thing I needed the advice of this Forum to even FIND. It's behind the Glove Compartment in both my wife's Honda and daughter's Acura.
It's under the windshield on the Monte and you go in from the outside.
