Default What is this?

Can anyone tell me what this is hanging down? It's on the driver's side hanging down between the headliner and rear glass. I thought it might have been something for the rear defrost but that appears to still be working. It sort of looks like it would potentially connect to something but I don't see anything to connect it to.

29 views so far and no one know what it is. Glad I'm not the only one.

Looks like an antenna feed line. Cell phone or satellite radio? Know the history or your Monte?

May or may not be factory. But if it is factory, it looks like ti could be for an antenna. Some of the cars had a window mounted cell phone or onstar antenna.

I've only owned it a couple weeks. I bought it from the 2nd owner who had owned it since 2010. I suppose it's possible they had something installed but the interior is super clean and it doesn't appear that anything has been touched. Still has the factory radio and everything. Everything seems to be working so I guess I'll tuck it away and forget about it unless I find out it's something I need.

I bet that's what it was. There is an OnStar button on the rearview mirror and the windows have been tinted so I bet it was deleted when the back window got tinted. I didn't notice it until a day or 2 after I bought the car, so it could have just been hanging the whole time or they might have tucked it up under the headliner and it worked its way out.

The shark fin on the roof is for On Star and XM. Can you check if it was disconnected? There was a fuss at one time over GM selling On Star tracking data even if one was not a subscriber.

I don't have a shark fin. I looked up some photos of other 2004 SS and it looks like some of them just had a short wire antenna that was attached the top of the rear window on the drivers side which is right where this cable is dangling down inside the car. After inspecting that area of my rear window I can see a small square residue about the size that the base of one of those antennas would be so that has to be what it was for. As I suspected, it probably got deleted when the back window got tinted.
