I doubt that your socket it loose, it's probably just a cigarette lighter, with no intentions of ever being a power source. Remember they have 3 different sizes, all change within a mm, the ones that are strictly for 12v sources are a tad smaller than a cigarette lighter (hence why they sometimes say no cigarette lighters)

thats really weird. i dont really know why i lighter socket on a 97 would not accept 12v adapter, adapters have been around for a long time before that. then again, 5th gen consoles are really cheezy, bout the only thing not broken on mine is the shifter, lol, and the whole console is loosing its finish for some unknowen reason.

anyways, what you are saying is that even though i got the adapter to work, not good but working, i might still have the wrong kind of socket? if i use it with the wrong socket, could it catch on fire? or short out the cars electornics?

I used to use a car charger for my phone. I only have one socket. I did have trouble at first. But what i did was try to pry the side prongs on the adapter so it can fit tighter into the socket. After that, i never had any problems.

And since both of ours are 97s, i'm sure that they used the same socket.

It's not going to catch on fire, but the size difference will annoy you.

i know,. i found that out when i bought the car. But like i said, just pryed the sides up a bit and it worked.

I'm the McGyver of Monte's. There is nothing i cant fix with just duct tape and a coat hanger.
