Lightbulb weird lighter problem

ok, my 97 ls has the buckets / console setup, with the ciggie lighter in the console.
i was going to use the outlet for my radar detector, pluged it in, and nothing happened. so i tried my cellphone charger... nothing. i know the radar detector works, i used it in my moms truck.

heres the strange part: even though accessorie plugs dont work, the lighter itself does!
im at a loss because i really want to use my radar detector, and obviously if the lighter works it cant be a fuse. or can it?

does anyone have any ideas on what this might be?

thanks!

there are 3 different sizes of cigarette lighters, are you sure you are equipped with the appropriate one to run that kind of device?

Hi `Ryan,
The lighter works & the accessories plugs don't
Are the contacts for your accesories different at their
base then your lighter ?
Can you try your accessories in another vehicles lighter socket ?
If they work on another vehicle then you know that you
socket is bad for your accessories in your Monte &
may have to be replaced.
When you push your lighter in on your Monte, does it
pop out by itself ?
What was I talk'in about...? I'm lost...
Hopefully a member that knows something about this will
post a solution.... I'm just filling in the empty space on
this page, and wanted 2 wish U & Member's reading
this far a `Happy : )

ok, that makes sense, i guess my socket does not have enuff juce to run them, or the contact points are wrong. does anyone know of a vehicle that would have a better socket i could grab in a junkyard? and would it fit my car?
