Very possible a vaccum leak, also just gor fun, run some drygas through the tank and some permium fuel..cant hurt anything and your monte will love you for it.

I am thinking perhaps Throttle body issue... maybe the Idle Air Control Valve...?

If it starts up, and THEN dies, that means the engine is being choked from one of THREE things
Air
Fuel
Spark

So, that being said, change your fuel filter.. If that doesn't work...

Does your engine make any funny noises? Perhaps a really loud air sucking sound?

Just an idea...
