OK everyone I haven't been on here slot lately but I have come to a brick wall with me car I have taken it to the dealership and all but long store short I am in the process of replacing all my vacuum lines bc they are brittle and old but the one vacuum line that goes from the secondary air injection system and brake booster vacuum line on the back of the intake manifold there is a vacuum line that comes up and along the firewall to the passenger shock tower and I need to find out where it connects to because mine apparently on goes to the fuse box and then stops bc it is broken and missing.

 

Does it go around the outside of the strut tower? Because that's where the washer fluid line runs. Could it be that?

 

No it's the one that is really small

 

I've seen this problem in 2 of the 4 Gen. 6's I've owned, both were 2000 SS's. It causes weak HVAC blower pressure out the vents. In both cases I found the vacuum line broken next to the coupling running down the strut tower. You will find the other end of the line inside the wire loom under the coolant reservoir, beside the steering pump. The wire loom is about 1-1/4" o.d. and runs back toward the firewall and branches off at a wye. Remove the electrical tape covering the corrugated plastic wire protector to about 4" toward the firewall side of the wye, then remove the electrical tape covering the wires. You will find the broken end of the vac line about 3" toward the firewall from the wye.
Plastic vac line repair kits are available, but I used 3/16" or 1/8" rubber vac hose to replace the broken section. Just slide it over the plastic lines, no clamps necessary. Re-wrap the wires and loom with electrical tape.

i thought it had something to do with the hvac system but i could not figure out where it connected into the firewall man your a ton of help i will check that out tomorrow and i will definitely be posting pics and an update on how it goes. thank you so much.

That small black line come off the vacuum tee on the intake manifold, runs along the shelf under the wipers, then winds down between the battery and the fuse box and disappears into the wiring harness that passes through the firewall into the passenger compartment. This line then enters a small vacuum canister under the center of the dash. A green vacuum line line then comes off the canister to control your vent postion(feet, face or defrost).

 

Do the Hayne's manuals have vacuum diagrams in them?

 

Old thread, odds are most involved in this thread have not been on in a while. I believe the vacuum diagram is on the emissions sticker found on the upper radiator core support.
