Default turn signal cam?

Does the 2000 monte carlo have a signal cam in the steering column, or is it a part of the turn signal lever assy?

do you think it would be 3 or 5 that would cause the turn signal not to center when you turn the wheel the opposite way of the signal?

Well, it would have to be either part 10, the cancel cam/ signal cam or part 3, the combo switch. The cancel cam is about $5. The combo switch assembly lists for $544.78 - but is discounted to $283.29 on gmpartsdirect.com. Without pulling the column apart, I don't know if you could tell which part is bad. I fear it might be the combo switch, however, as that has alot of moving parts. The cancel cam is just one molded piece of plastic.

Part 5 is a an electrical connector that would not cause the issue you describe.

These parts may also be available from non-GM suppliers through the various discount auto parts stores - O'reilly, Advanced, AutoZone, etc.

It's a pain in the *** getting at those parts because of all the c-clips and because you need special tools to pull the wheel and compress various springs. Hopefully you have the tools needed. If not, they are cheap to buy. It's also possible that the various discount auto parts stores may loan the tools for free.
