Default Turn signal assembly

I went to the store every thing worked fine except when I got out at the store - I smelt a smell like the Cadillac converter was hot - u know like a Buffett pan smells when it’s out of water? Well when I got back in the car and started it I noticed the lights had stayed on and didn’t go off automatically- I started the car and the whispers were on high I couldn’t get them to turn off or slow down and I couldn’t get the lights to switch to high beems - so I drove back home wipers going full blast

it was only a 12 minute trip well I then noticed it smoking around the steering wheel any suggestions

A solid bet would be to pull off the plastic trim around where the smoke was coming from to figure out what's fried.
