Question Trunk Button Failure

It's not the FOB, that still makes the rear lights flash, just won't unlatch the trunk, nor does the dash button. Hooray for keys! For awhile it said it was open when it wasn't, then this. Is there a fuse I can replace, or am I dealing with a broken wire? Some electrical tape is loose, I can see one strand and one strand only not connected, the others the tape is around are.

Best bet it to take a picture and post so we can see which wires they might be .

Hi my car is a 2001 and I am having the same problem . Does anyone know why the trunk does not open ? It's like the actuator is not getting message ? Something worn out or died ? Herman

my guess is it needs lubrication for the joint/spring/lock area. Spray bottle lithium grease, after getting rid of the old gunk that may be in there

I really think it's the actuator . I'll try spraying it with some lube but the part itself is clean and no gunk present so maybe dry . Herman

My son in law had an issue with his a few years ago and i think he indicated it was in the wiring, his cracked and broke loose in the trunk.
I would check the fuse, then trace the wire back tot he trunk and see if it has a break. the spot could be in the trunk or along the floor trim channel leading to the rear of the car.
