This whole thing kinda pisses me off. I wrote Chevrolet about this and how big of safety issue this can be. I'm sure they heard this already but won't do anything about it. Also I noticed the recall option on top of this page after I had sent my previous message. Looks like more fuel system stuff for recalls than anything else. There is another option to post complaints, not sure if it would help but might post my blinker problem.
One more thing, get a Haynes Repair Manual (only book for the Monte). This is the best thing to have to do it yourself project. It tells you almost everthing you need to know in how to get at that switch.

I think that mine is the same problem, but I am not sure.

I have an 03 and my hazards and turn signals don't flash, they just stay steady. When this first happened I went into a store, came back out and they worked again. But since that day they just stay steady. Will replacing my hazard switch fix this? Is it difficult to do?

Thanks!

It's an easy R&R. All of the dash parts just snap together. Just make sure you remove your ignition key before pulling the dash apart, I think I may have killed an ignition switch when I pulled mine apart last time.

I have a dash (2006 MC) that has a factory defect in the vinyl. I have been reluctant to bring back to the dealer to complain because of a fear of them screwing something up and have a dash that will rattle of a servicer breaking something and then ignoring to admit fault and to fix it.

How difficult is to replace the vinyl dashboard?

i had this problem in my z34, it is the switch inside the steering column. the brake lights run through that switch, as well as the hazard lights and turn signals.

the part itself has metal parts that get corroded over time and the result is what your experiencing

the part cost me 80.00 and it was only one hour of labour to get it replaced. i don't recommend doing it yourself unless your EXTREMELY careful because you need to remove the airbag from your steering wheel to get the column apart........well at least in my 5th gen you have to.

Happened to me. 04 Monte. No turn signals. Didn't blink like there was a burnt-out bulb. Touched the Hazard Button to "Test" the flasher and immediately blew a fuse. Replaced the fuse on the right side of the dash.

Everything returned to normal. Or, is back to Normal for the time being!
