RE: trouble codes
Hi `Bri, & Welcome to the MCF.
Sorry to read that you are having problems with your Monte.
Please post additional information about your Monte Carlo.
What model/engine ?
How many miles ? How many owners ? Service History ?
I am confused by your post ? Does your engine run?
Is it your transmission that is not engaging ?
When you posted no power ? Is it the engine or trans ?
Please post additional information about your problem, &
hopefully one of our expert MCF members can help with advise/solutions to the problems that you are encountering.
Good Luck in your resolve...`Space

RE: trouble codes
The cat's not plugged? Sounds like the prob. I had but I was also throwing a check engine code. The model and VIN I had Chevy replaced it for free because there's an extended (80K to 120K) mile warranty on the cat for the 01 SS. They tried to make me pay it but after they received a call from GM HQ in the morning, they happily gave it to me for free.......

RE: trouble codes
I have a 2005 Monte Carlo and it threw the code 0420. Many have told me that the code means that I need a new cat. Is that the case? Are there any special policies or warranties that may cover my vehicle? Is it possible that its not my cat? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Thanks,

How many miles on the '05? http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...te-carlo-5.htmThe Exhaust Emission Warranty covers corrosion-related parts for 2 years/24,000 miles, plus 8 years/80,000 miles on the catalytic converter and any on-board diagnostic device.

RE: trouble codes
Unfortunately, I am outside of both warranties. I have about 98k on it and was aware of the warranties you mentioned. I did however run across a response about a specialy policy that I wasnt aware of, so I wanted to check and see what additional info I could get and to also see what others were told and view their trials and errors.
