transmission shudder and intermittently won't shift back to first gear
hi everyone. i have a 2004 monte carlo ss with 99,000 miles. recently, an intermittent light shudder has started happening when it shifts between first and second gear. also, when coming to a stop, it sometimes won't shift back into first gear (so you start out in second when you get moving again).
the fluid was changed at 70,000 miles, so i changed it (and the filter) again at 98,000. the problem stopped for a couple weeks, then came back the other day. i randomly turned off the traction control, and the problem went away again! it's only been a couple of days, so it might just be a coincidence, but is there anyway that traction control might have something to do with this? there are no warning lights, codes, etc.
any advice would be most appreciated. thanks!

Well, I have a 02ss, Getting code 1811(long shifts). Today I tried and shut off the traction control. Well the tranny shifted really good today, no hard shifts. I am taking it in this weekend to get it fixed. I will continue to drive with trac off, and see if the hards shifts come back. Maybe there is a different shift pattern when the trac is off. Dont know, but 1 day with good soft shifts. And my car was shifting hard everyday. Like clock work. we'll see

Just got the car back a few days ago. Had dealership change the PC solenoid and the TCC solenoid. $765. So far so good. Shifts great. I went to the dealer because they warrenty their work for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Hopefully I will get another 130,000 miles out of her.

Just got this fixed on my 2003 LS, he reset the comp?, and also recommended Dr Tranny's Shudder fix, a tranny fluid additive in a tube. Worked like a charm, all for about $199.00, it was throwing the 1811 long shift code. Mine was kinda "surging", I'll call it while cruising at any steady speed, tach would jump up, would appear to slip, then keep going, although would appear to shift correctly. Really sucked, but it is all good now after a week!!
