TPMS system question

TPMS system question
Had a low tire light come on when I was almost back to my place after work.
I checked and set all (4) tires to 36 like I normally do at work and on my old car and never had an issue. (old car didn't have TPMS though I know)
Does the system set a Low tire pressure message when you set the pressures above the placard?

This is for your 6th gen right? (00-05?)
They use the wheel hub assembly and the wheel sensors to determine if the tire is low on pressure. If one tire is spinning at a different speed for a determined set of time, it will throw that light.
Your pressures could be fine, and the sensor itself could be going bad. Wheel Hub Assembly failures are common on these cars, but they are sealed units and require full replacement for something as simple as a sensor

Yep, its an 04.
I know one of the bearings is making the typical groaning noise of needing replacement, and usually just get a sensor w/ the bearing.
I reset the system using the method in the book. Through the radio, i'll see if it does it again on my way back after work. I might drop the pressures some and see if it makes any difference

that's what I figure. it could be directly related or the ABS module freaking out for seeing a higher than what it normally would be considered normal from the higher than spec tire pressure

The car doesn't know the pressure in the tire. It only knows if one is spinning at a different speed.
If every tire was 18 PSI, the car wouldn't tell you that they were low. Only if 1 was 18 and the others were about 25 would it know there was a difference in at least one.
