Temperature Sending Unit

The temperature gauge has stopped working on my 2000 Monte SS 3.8 Ltr. Also, the dual fans are running even though engine is not hot.
My question is, where is the temperature sending unit located? Thanks for any help.

Mine does the same thing and the fans make a terrible. Noise so I have not idea how to fix it. Let me know if you figure it out
