Swap a 1979 Header panel onto a 1980?
I just bought a 1980 t-top Monte Carlo, first purchased by the last owner in 1989 from a dealer. The car came without the blinker lights on the front quarter panels.
I have a strange urge to convert the four headlight header panel to a two headlight, side blinker 79 header panel. If my calcuations are correct, that would pretty much make this a 1979 Monte Carlo on the outside.
Does anyone know if it would be difficult to make the switch, especially as it relates to the headlight electrical wires?
Thanks!
John

actually the 79 came out in the later part of the year just like that as you have it. They are all the same car from 78 threw 80.
in 79 they were runnign out of the front headder pannels so they mosved on to the new front end. and actually just used the 79 body for this year change and i belive there are no features that make them diffrent other then some had the quad headlights and some had just the duals.
but if you want to do it it is complely possiabel to do so.
you will need the headder.
the wireing harness.
the head light buckets etc....

Isn't the wiring harness the same for both 79 and 80? I have a bid on ebay for the front header panel of a 79. It comes with the lights, but minus the blinkers and brackets. I'm not in a rush to convert it, but my original dream Monte Carlo was a black 1979 T-Tops manual.
When I found this 1980 with T-Tops and only 100 miles away, I jumped on it. It's close enough and I do like that four headlight look...but I kinda fell in love with the two headlights. So it's not a priority or anything, but we'll see.

yeah the harness will be the same but the one for the head lights will not be the same as the high beams and low beams are seperate on the singel head light. But this is not a hard thing to do you just have to get the plugs and figure out what wires do the head lights, high beams and marker lights and then just put it togeather.
I like th esingels on them also. but can live with both.
