Default Sunroof issues

The sunroof in my 2004 Dale Jr is not working very well. Today I went to open it and I had to hit the switch multiple times to get it to go all the way back and then to close it, I had to help it along with my hand before it would close. Believe it or not but this is my first vehicle with a sunroof and so I'm not very familiar with them and what are the causes of them not working correctly. I did spray some lithium grease on the rails last year but only used the roof a couple of times after that.

Is this a switch issue, motor issue, or something else? Are there any electrical contacts that can be cleaned or may be the cause of the roof not working? Thanks for any information or ideas to make this thing work like it should.

It could be a motor problem ? or your lithium grease on the rails causing friction ?

Not sure about the mechanics of it, however mine was slowing down and making a kinda bumpy grinding noise, so I greased it and it now functions perfectly... Mine was definately not a switch or motor issue thank god... Good luck...

What are you guys using to grease your sunroofs? I called the dealer and the lithium grease is what they told me to use. I may have to try something else.

I use white lithium grease for almost every moving or hinged part of the car... The only caution is that every once in a while the grease needs to be cleaned out (removed) and then re-applied on a nice clean surface...

I guess I will clean off the tracks and regrease them and see if that helps. When I first greased them before, the roof worked great.

Well, I totally cleaned all of the old grease off of the rails and applied some stuff called Fluid Film which I have used with great success on lubrication and sliding components and its doesn't seem to gum up like other types of greases over time.

Sunroof is working like it should now. Now I'll see how long that lasts. Thanks for all of the ideas and help.
