Default Stop-and-go shifting issues

I am having problems with a "kick" in the first and second gears after about an hour of driving. This only happens with stop and go traffic, though. If I were to drive 4 hours on the interstate, I have no problems. But, doing city driving can be a real pain with this problem. I have heard this could be due to a bad transmission solenoid. Does anyone have experience solving this problem?

Typically it's because the trans is going bad, too much heat and such.

A solenoid and fluid swap might help, but it could also be the start of something worse

To me, it seems kind of crazy because I only have 129,000 miles on the car. Doesn't that seem really early to have issues with transmission?

I'm curious to know also, because I am having the same issue, shifting hard, bucking into gear, thought the throttle body was dirty, so cleaned that, did trany fluid and filter, cleaned maf sensor, checked fuel pressure

Unfortunately not. The 4t65e is a known problem goer

Check out this link for a nice read on our transmissions: 4T65E Common Problems

Do not drive in Overdrive when you are in town, no mater what. they will shift a lot and overtime this will contribute to the delinquency of the problem. Ok on the Interstate, but also watch it in Mountain driving if that ever occurs. Hope it is a simple thing and works out. Oh a friend of mine used some Lucas oil Trans Oil to extend a bit.

Thanks everyone for your input! I am taking the car by a local transmission shop tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find out. Maybe that will give some insight to others experiencing the same problem as well.
