Default steering wheel controls

Hi,
I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS 3.8L Series II
A couple of weeks ago I took the steering column out because I was feeling a noise while turning at low speed. I did not find anything wrong with it, so I put it back on. Now the all the controls on the steering wheel don't work and the airbag light stays on. I checked all the plugs and wires. Everything seems to be in place. I don't know what else could cause this. Please help...

Thanks
Claude

That "noise you were feeling" is more than likely the ISS=Intermediate Steering Shaft.

This may be a silly question, but did you check all of your fuses? Including the fuse blocks under the hood? Keep in mind there is a fuse panel on the passenger side as well as the driver side.

I would pull your battery power for 30 to and hour to let the PCM clear it's memory.

also don't forget to check your ground wires.

if any of this dose not work you might find that you pinched a wire in the column putting it back together. IF this is the case it might cut the power going to everything.

keep us posted please

Might have ripped the airbag wire. When the column is disconnected, you should keep it straight to prevent breaking the wire. I don't know if that wire has power to the controls or not though.
