I got my car back last night. They said the water pump was causing my inside heater to rise and fall as I was driving/accelerating (as posted in another post). Drove home and had the exact same problem. The heater rises and falls as I drive/accelerate. It is back there today.

They did tell me that I would continue to hear the sloshing sound for the first few times I drive the car. They said it would eventually go away. It just needs to time to work the air out. (Why was I having the slosh sound before the water pump replacement? Still wondering about that)

So as it stands, my water pump has been replaced which did not fix the heating problem (or stop the sloshing sound as of yet). Also, the door speakers are unavailable for the Monte Carlo and they are going through a special search throughout the entire country to find one!

I am concerned they replaced a part that did not need to be replaced. I have a feeling the heater issue is some simple electronic or mechanical issue related the control system.

As of yet, they still don't know my problem. They are still looking, but they think it may be designed this way to keep the car from getting to hot if left idling with no one in it. I am not comfortable with this solution. I sat my dad's Chevy truck, it did not do this.

That is BullS*it! My car will roast you out of the car even at idel if you have the heat on full blast. I usually have my heat set to the upper end of the blue, and that is plenty of heat, full blast heat literally spills out HOT air.

Tell them you have a friend with the exact same car, same engine, and the heat works perfect all the time once the car is warmed up.

Have they tried replacing the water pump yet? If you water pump is bad like they said it is, theres a good change you have air in the system that needs to work its way out of the heater core, and thats why your not getting heat all the time.

I got the car back last night with the new water pump, problem was not solved. Took it back this morning. This is when they told me about it being normal. I told them it was not and called back this afternoon and told them about your car being hot. The first guy said your car may not be working right. I then talked to the service manager and he said they would look at it more. They just called and said they removed the air from the system (that should have been done yesterday with the new pump installed). They said it is blowing hot at idle now. I will be getting it after work. I am really concerned it will not be working but they also said an actuator was replaced inside the dash. They also somehow found a speaker for my door (I hope it is the right one and not from another car). I hope this is a good night. Last night was very stressful.

Yea right dude (not you, the guy at the dealer), my car actually works, and they think something is wrong with it! Also Bull S*it, do their job, and fix your car, and sop making lame excuses. I forgot to mention, my heater has worked this way since I bought the car, so are they trying to say GM cars come from the factory like that???? They need to pull their head out of there ***, and find the problem, because obviously there was a problem.

It sounded to me like it was air in your system, so lets hope they purged all the air out, and your good to go now. Everytime i've done a cooling sytem flush, I get air in the heater core, and it causes my heater not to work. As soon as I get all the air out, the heater gets super HOT. The heater in this car actually works really well when its functioning properly.

If its not fixed this time, call GM, and tell them what going on. Then take your car to a different GM dealer. The dealer you went to sounds like they are a bunch of morons.

I got the car back last night. I am glad to say that everything seems to be working. I will do a full look over this weekend.

No more water fall sound in the dash. They bled the system completely (as I think they should have done the first time). The service guy originally said they replaced the water pump for this heating issue, but later said that it was because they did find a leak. I guess I should be grateful they found the leak and repaired it instead of trying to push it through past my warranty.

They did replace an electronic device in the dash saying it 'may' have contributed to the problem, but showed border line signs of needing replacment.

They fixed the door speaker.

I did not deal with the guy who told me it was a designed safety feature. I am really upset about him misleading me and may pursue it.

One question, I smell a little cooling system odor when standing outside the car, should I be concerned? or could that be from working on the car and just needs to dry up. I will be checking in more detail this weekend for leaks.

Also, I looked under the hood and tried to find a device that looks brand new on the passenger side of the engine. I hope they really did replace the water pump and not just say they did. I will look in more detail tomorrow during the day.

Finally, I never ever saw any leakage from the old water pump, I never saw the temp gauge rise above the halfway mark. The reserve tank always had some fluid in it. Should I be checking my radiator instead of the reserve tank?

Thanks again for all the advice, answers, and help in resolving this issue!

When my water pump was leaking, it was such a slow leak that it was not leaking on the driveway. Also, my reserve level never went down as far as the eye could see.

The smell is probably just left over coolant from the repair. I would do an engine bay cleaning, to get rid of all the dried up coolant, etc. Then you should be fine!

Glad everything finally worked out. See, just a water pump, and some air in the system, not a big deal. But those yahoo's at the dealer turn it into a big deal...IDIOTS! LOL

I do feel better it appears to be solved. Glad I caught it early before the warranty went out. Was your new water pump easy to find under the hood?

I will take it for a cleaning. I will also learn how to check the fluid.
