SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM and ABS Lights
Hey,
So recently, my "SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM", "ABS" and "Check Engine" lights have came on - almost all at the same time so hoping they are all for the same reason(s). They stay on the entire time the car is on (whether in park or driving). Anyone know what could be causing this problem and/or what parts may be needed to replace? I have a 2004 Monte Carlo SS. Thanks!

i had the exact problem with my 03 SS back in Sept. I took it to GM and paid for the diagnosis and they told me it was the electronic brake control module [ECBM]. They wanted over $1000 dollars to fix the problem. I took the car home and removed the connector from the ecbm and cleaned it with wd-40 which is located drivers side under hood forward lower part of the anti lock brake module and lightly tapped on the module with a hammer. I also cleaned the abs wheel sensors and the light has not come on again. The system is pretty simple except partscould be costly. If you can do a thread search on this problem my progress is dated back to mid sept.

I've continually had the same problem. TYPICALLY it's the connector at the wheels. They get a little corroded. I use take it apart and put it together a few times them spray it good with WD-40 (which helps absorb moisture), they put it together wet.
I had that problem about a month ago. It would happen DAILY. I changed the oil and cleaned the connectors, and it hasn't happened since. It will again, and I've done it before. It's about a once a year thing for me.
Cost to fix? ZERO!
BTW, " I took it to GM and paid for the diagnosis and they told me it was the electronic brake control module [ECBM]. They wanted over $1000 dollars to fix the problem." What do you think THEY would do? Pretty easy money!
