service traction system?
I started up my 02 SS yesterday evening and as I started to drive my service traction system light came on. It went off after a short time, but the traction off light was on as well as the ABS light. What causes this to come on and what is the procedure to get this serviced and the cost of it?
Thanks

RE: service traction system?
Hi, My 2002 ss had this problem a while ago. It would happen off and on. After two times in the dealer they found a wheel bearing. The bearing has ABS sensor. That was bad. From what I read this is common. Get it fixed, it wont go away. Good luck, Dave

I had this happen also.
At first it only happened when it was wet out but after a few weeks I had the message all the time.
I found that the wheel bearing housing that incorporates the abs sensors for the left rear wheel had a crack in it. What was happening was water seeped into the crack and was shorting out the sensor.
The way I isolated it was to jack up the car ( one wheel at a time ) and disconnect the sensor plug. Checked the plug for any sign of corrosion and then I measured the resistance of each wheel. There was one reading that was out of line with the rest so I pulled that wheel and removed the bearing housing and saw the crack. Almost 300 bucks for the part if I remember correctly.

you're right about the rear bearing.the problem i had is with the front bearing.and if you jack the car up and grap the top and bottom of the wheel and there is a little play in the bearing you can tighten it up abit. this could help with your problem. i know it solve mine. i'm still rolling on the same bearing with no abs problems.
