Opinion Needed: Rust fix question

Rust fix question
Hey guys, just another delay in upgrading my ss. I have surface rust on the inner part of my rear wheel wells. I know this is common in some montes as mine is an 03. Got an estimate from a well known place for 1000$ cash. Here is the dumb question... Yes it's winter, crappy weather snow salt all that good stuff. I know you should fix rust asap but should I wait till the spring? Is it a bad Idea to fix it in this upcoming winter season? Is the warmer weather better? I'd say the rust is not extremely bad but rather a mild surface rust which sure could spread on the inside of the wall panel. They said they have to cut on the outside wall a certain amount to see how car it has spread

You can go to Rust Check and get a small bottle of their product that will slow down the spread of rust for the winter months as fresh paint right now may not be the best.
Rust check has always worked well for my cars over the years and should prevent the rust from getting worse.
You could always get a can of tremclad and sand the rust down and do a quick "get me through the winter" touch up on the wheel wells as well. This is not a great option, but if you do some proper sanding and prep work it will get you through the winter. I've done quite a few touch up's over the years in my driveway that most people never know it was ever done, just take the time to do the proper prep with sanding and masking
You won't know how far the rust has gone through the metal until you start sanding back, but you should get a good idea fairly quickly. Simple knocking on the area with your knuckles should loosen a lot of it up so you can get a better idea of what you are looking at when you get in to things. But generally the paint will be bubbling as the rust will be pushing it out (for lack of a better term) from behind.
Is it in the wheel well ring, or where the bumpers meet the wheel well's and you get the joining line?

I would personally just do the driveway fix it yourself until the spring. It shouldn't get worse over the winter if you give it a good sanding, maybe a slight coat of bondo and then sand it smooth then spray it with some tremclad, or rust paint in as close a color as you can get.
