Default replacing idiot lights with gauges

I have an '86 Monte Carlo with idiot lights and would like to replace them with factory gauges. I have seen several posts here but don't know how to do this. Can anyone help or suggest a web site to find the necessary info? Thanks, David.

Not to make myself seem LIKE and idiot, but what are idiot lights?

And welcome to the forum, BTW.

Idiot lights are simply warning lights for engine oil pressure, volts/charging system, and water temperature. They do not show any degree of oil pressure, amount of volts in the battery, or heat in the engine. They only light up to indicate something is wrong with that particular function.
