Relearn After Overkill PCM Install?
My tune is coming from Overkill in a couple days for my '02 so let us pray....lol. I have the OBDcom.com program in my laptop that I plug in to the car that I purchased to read codes and reset check-engine lights, would that do anything to help me here? Not sure exactly what y'all mean by a scan tool....by the way, do need to disconnect the battery before I change it out?
You don't need to disconnect the battery - at least I didn't. Luckily I didn't need any relearn with mine but at a minimum you're probably going to need to do a security relearn. You can search the forum for the how to but it's just turning the key.

With all of the electronic components on cars now it's always good practice to disconnect the battery prior to doing any electrical work. All it takes is one little 'oops' and a spark to learn a very expensive lesson.

I installed mine earlier this week. It took all of 15 minutes, a 5/16" socket with extension, 1/2" socket, 1/4" socket and a #8 socket.
Remove the 3 bolts (1/2" socket) for the angle brace above the air box which runs to the drivers side front strut area. Moved it out of the way.
Unclip the 2 clips that hold the air box cover on. I usually remove these in order to keep them safe. They are easily lost.
Unscrew the two bots at the very front of the air box (5/16" socket with extension). These are not on very tight but it's still necessary to remove with a socket and driver.
Take your 1/4" socket and loosen the hose clamp around the air box to throttle body tube (hose, whatever).
This is where I disconnected the negative on the battery (#8 socket).
Remove the air temp sensor connector from the air box to throttle body tube. It just unclips.
Pull the tube off of the air box cover and remove the air box cover. Remove your air filter (a good time to check and replace).
Grab the air box and pull up hard (not too hard but you'll see, it just pops out with a bit of force).
Remove the two screws on the PCM. Carefully remove the two connectors (one is clear and the other is blue).
Remove the old PCM and put your new PCM in the same way. The colour of each connector is printed on the PCM. Gently install the connectors and replace the screws. Do NOT over tighten. Do NOT force. Just let 'er go in. Push the connectors in all the way before tightening the screws.
Installation from here is the same as reverse.
Chalk me up for one that did NOT have to do the security relearn or the crank position sensor relearn.
