Rear main seal leak
#3
What trim package/ engine do you have? LS or SS? I think this is a fairly common problem with SS's (3800 series II engine) and I agree with Turbo, it sucks! My '00 SS has leaked slowly for a few years now. It also has about 124,000 miles. Unless it gets really bad I'll wait for the tranny to go out before addressing since the tranny and flywheel need to come out to get to the seal. A shop in my area would likely charge $800-$1200. That can buy a lot of kitty litter for the cost of the repair. I had the tranny flushed a few years ago and replaced with Mobile 1 synthetic ATF. So far no signs of tranny probs. so it might be awhile before the seal gets replaced.
