06 SS

So, when I start my car, I hear a slight rattle coming from somewhere low in the engine area. It also rattles slightly when I'm accelerating at low speeds.

Oh, and this only happens when its cold out. When its warm I don't hear a thing.

Any ideas?

 

I hope you don't have a cat problem, could be the noise. Maybe you are still under warranty though. Maybe you could have a friend start the car while you stick your head under the hood for a listen.
Also, try giving the exhaust system a jiggle in different areas to make sure something is just not loose or a hanger has crapped out.

 

Is there a more definite diagnosis to a cat problem? I don't even know where the cat is haha... but it definitly is coming from in front of me.

 

I'm not exactly sure where the cat is placed on an '06 but I would assume that it is after the axhaust pipes from both heads have merged into a 'Y' and look for an almond shaped sections of pipe.

 

i think a guy on tech had an issue like this and he said it was the flywheel cover was a little loose. id check that before worrying about the cat. i think it would be highly unlikely to be the cat on a vehicle thats that new. check for that and perhaps some of the exhaust heat shield making contact.http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/ls4-fr...p-tap-but.html
