We recently had a tornado in town that busted my window out of my car, so I drove over to a local just yard and got a new one. To my surprise, they had several Monte Carlos that wasn't strip down, so I racked up. One thing I wasnt so sure about was the 06 Monte Carlo's radio for my 04 MC.
I finally got around to it, struggling to match up the wire diagram, I finally plugged it in with the exclusion of a few wires like the amp wires, the antenna wire, the actual antenna, and 3 of the the speakers. I still wasn't sure about a few of the wires so I left some of so I can narrow it down.
So I plugged it up' light ups, but not not much up esle happens, except the time and the fact that it says no disc if I push eject.
Maybe its locked, but shouldnt it say that?
Let me know what you guys think.....

The radio is locked, from what I have read all of these late model radios are set to the VIN number of the car at the factory. I know if you use a radio from 2000-2005 you have to bring it to the Chevy dealer or someone that has the correct scan tool to reprogram the VIN # to the radio. Not sure how the wiring on the 06 works or if it can even be programmed to work with the older car.
Good luck!

I recently had to change out a radio on my 04 Silverado.. With the same type and year..
However, it was from an impala vs my truck...
What ended up happening is we had to take it to the dealer to get it to work... Since you now have another radio.
Be sure to take your old Radio to the dealer..with you so they can get the correct serial number from it to acclimate it to your vehicle and Vin#.
As they will need that old radio number in aiding the process to getting the new radio to operate properly.
Its normally a charge of around $150.00 it varys from dealer to dealer...
I was fortunate enough that I know one of the managers there and he had it done for me for free.
Hope this helps..
Oh by the way the videos on you tube about cheating the locking code wont work for make and model year..
