2005 Chevy Avalanche DVD Radio Swap?
My 05LT came with the stock radio CD/AM/FM Radio. A buddy of mine is looking to get rid of his stock radio out of his 2005 Chevy Avalanche. His looks like my factory radio except it has the DVD LCD screen. Can these radios be swapped? It looks like it will fit perfectly. His truck has all the same functions my MC does. Please advise. Thanks!
I haven't seen these 2 units side by side. He's got the stock nav/DVD head unit that came with his Avalanche, but he's putting in an aftermarket radio in it. I think they would fit, but I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it, looks like it would to me.
No, I'm pretty sureWhite05Lt is right, I think they are both double DIN units, so it should fit. Only thing I might worry about is functions you may lose, i.e. clearing warning from message center, steering wheel audio controls etc. Might call your dealer see if they know.
I'm almost positive they are both double DIN, so size wise, they should just swap. I believe the connectors are the same too. As for the functions, I think they both use the radio for the same functions. I'm not sure I want to ask the dealer. They generally frown upon those kinds of creative things, LOL.
I think if it is the one with navigation it is a bose amped radio, which would mean your monte would then need a bose radio that already has an amp. Also the radio would have to be programmed via the body control modual. You can call AER radio in LA, they deal with factory OEM delco radios for GM 1-800-321-6970.
