Default question on a cat converter

been having engine problems...suspect the cat. at running temp, the front of the cat is at 288 degrees and the back of the cat ( outlet side) the temp is at 266 degrees. basicly 20 degree difference from one end to the other end of the cat...........is that normal? or is that 20 degrees a sign of cat failure? its a 2001 monte with a 3.4
i measured the temp with a laser thermometer used for automotive and hvac work.
the problems are....
slight humping feeling..lol while driving or like a miss. hard to describe. checked the coils already and they seem fine but im not even sure if its a miss in the electronics. hard to tell. fuel pressure is good and regulator is fine, egr valve is good and no vacume leaks found. car does at times feel a lil slugish but barely.......overall it still drives good. no check engine light ....yet. wish it would come on. only have these issues while driving or in gear anyhow. at idle in park it seems fine. thanks for your help. the cat is stock and the car has 174000 miles.

How many miles do you have on your 2001 Monte 3.4L ?
Is it stock ? Any Mod's ? (If so, please post them)

Hopefully one of our expert/tech member's will be able to help, but we only have the words on this screen to work with.

LOL ~> I hope the check engine light comes on : )
Good Luck
