Question! Buick Riviera
Hey everyone,
It's been quite awhile since I've been around here. It's good to be back.
I have some questions for the 3800 S/C guys around here.
I'm looking at a 95 Buick Riviera with 244K KMs(about 151615miles) this weekend and it has the 3800 S/C under the hood. I was looking at parts and upgrades for this car and I was looking on 3800performance.com but it doesn't list the Riviera as an option when picking your car. So I was wondering what you guys thought about the car in general and looking for information on parts for it.
It currently needs a starter and a fuel pump but for $800 I can have a nice running vehicle for under $1000.
What's a good first upgrade? I always thought changing the supercharger pulley was a good start but I'm not entirely sure. I was also looking at exhaust and headers and what not.
So let me know what you guys think!

Being a 95 its going to have the Series I supercharged engine unless it was swapped, not sure if theres really any use trying to modify that one.

I'm with Keane on this. I don't believe it's a Series II (L67) 3800. That being said, I doubt there are many, if any companies out there supporting mods for it.... I'm pretty sure that some years of Riv had a L67 S/C 3800 Series II in them. Odds are people with them were not big in performance modding them (but if you find one with a Series II, I don't see why you could not roll mods used in any other L67).

Don't waste your time. It's a Series I L67 and has almost zero aftermarket at all. Plus, the car is a BOAT. Quite a bit bigger then our Montes. Series II L67's weren't installed in Riviera's until '96 and ended in '99.
Also, if you do end up getting a car with an L67, a smaller pulley is the WORST first mod to do. You have to make sure it can support even the stock size pulley by making sure there is no KR and then you need supporting mods before you install a smaller pulley.
