Default Problems at the gas pump ????

2006 SS

Yeah.

I pump gas, and the nozzle clicks off wayyy too sensitively sometimes. Sometimes its fine, but others i have to find the perfect position, and hold the handle in just enough.

Is this normal? Is there a problem? Or did I just forget how to pump gas?

Do you know if there is anyway to fix this? Its sooooo frustrating. Especially on a cold morning, or when I need to run into the gas station for something.

The gas station I go to all the time had one pump that was really bad for that. The gas station said it was their pump's fault. Do you get this at ever gas station you go to, or just that one? Could be their fault too.

It does not happen all the time for me, because I think I pretty much figured out exactly how to wiggle the pump, and exactly how to get the rubber cup thing on the end of the pump to go into my car. But on occasion it still happens to me too. But I always get a full tank out of it.

But I totally understand how annoying it is, because its done it to me several times.

Move to NJ. They don't let us pump our own gas here, and we still have some of the cheapest gas in the country. Typically this is related to the nozzle on the pump and not the fuel inlet itself, but it sounds like this is too common for that explanation. Are these the spill proof nozzles with the big spring seals that you have to really push down into the inlet before they will work (very common in NY)? Those things are a nightmare to pump with, and are the only type I consistently have issues with, and thats in any car.
