Default Problem Electrical or key?

Yesterday, I thought my 2006 C/D radio blew a fuse. I went out today because I was going to try to disconnect the battery to see if I could reset something and the car will not start. It scares me that the door chime goes off and the dome light comes on. I also remembered a little "panic alarm" honk yesterday morning after I locked the door manually. Does this mean anything to anyone? I was going to replace the battery until I realized there is power somewhere.

I just bought this car a month ago.

Electrical problems are tough. Did you disconnect the battery? Theftlock might have been activated on the radio, but that shouldn't stop the car from starting, I don't think.
Hope someone that knows (is smarter than me) might be able to help you.

My 06 LT does not have the therftlock radio like the earlier models did...To the best of my knowledge, none of the newer ones have it.

And the honk you heard after locking it is normal. If you used the power door lock switch on the door panel (not the remote key fob), and pushed it to lock the doors, and then shut them, it is perfectly normal for it to honk once, letting you know the doors locked.

You could just need a new battery, your dome light, and door chime could go off still even if the battery is bad. It takes a lot less juice to power the dome light, and door chime then it takes to turn over the car.

Many auto stores will load test your battery, and can tell you whether or not it needs to be replaced.
