Default Electrical problem

Something is draining the battery in my 96 LS's courtesy light circuit, and was wondering if someone else has had the same problem. Thanks

From what I'm hear your courtesy light circuit is draining power from your battery. Never had this problem before, but then never owned a 96. Courtesy lights are generally controlled, manually by two switches, 1. on the dash 2. switch inside each door. I'm wondering if either one of them are working properly. I take it after shutting off car the courtesy lights are off? Also how do you know it's coming from the courtesy light circuit?

Thanks for your response. I replaced the light switch on the dash. The courtesy lights do turn off. I know the problem is in that circuit because when I keep that fuse in, the battery goes dead. Thanks

Have you made a clean look at the circuit? Some things that you can look for, that maybe causing your problem, check all the electrical connectors to make sure they are clean (loose connections, or oxidized). If there is any, and you add that fuse this may cause the drain in your battery. It sounds like you have an Open Circuit, and if so will take some electrical tools and some good knowledge of the system. If anything get a whole new circuit board and replace it with the one you have.

make sure all the lights are shutting down. dont neglect the trunk light either. find a friend willing to get in the trunk when you close it and see if the light goes out. thats how i did it in the dealership. we had a kid who was small enough to fit in a trunk. he would fall for it every time, but he knew id let him out after a couple of minutes.
