When in reverse, if you tap the gas enough to move it, does the car continue rolling?

Sorry, again it wasn't clear from the original post. Again, without any diagnostic tools, all you can really do is check the fluid level. Otherwise you'll probably just have to take it somewhere if you think there's an issue to have it checked out.
I was also looking for comparative experiences. Is this how everyone's 5.3 behaves? If it is, then there isn't an issue. If everyone else's drives like the 3.8 SC, then I need to take it somewhere.

Have you ever had the transmission serviced?

If not. You may want to drop the pan and change the filter and check out the for metal fragments/sludge. If you see that then you know you are wearing your gears down or they have worn down. If no metal gunk then your gears are likely fine.


Maybe a transmission solenoid issue?
