Default Popping sound

When i am first starting out mainly in reverse and at low speeds, there is a popping sound. Also if i punch it the sound is heard. Has anyone had this before or know what i am talking about?? Any ideas?? I am around 50000 miles and need to change my transaxle fluid, does anyone know if that could be the problem. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Could be a bad bushing... engine mount, or something in the suspension.. Does it seem to come from a certain side? can you feel it in the steering wheel at all?

When turning it also makes the noise but i cannot feel it in the steering column. It is usually only when i make sharp turns.

Check your drive axles (cv joints)

Could be your steering rack. Just had mine replaced - only 6000 miles. Noticed at low speeds during sharp turns like when backing out of garage, parking space, etc. New rack and no more noise.

got just about 40,000 miles on mine... have a new steering rack on order, since replacing the ISS didn't do anything for it...

My ISS just got lubed for free, not only did that improve steering feel by a TON, it also cleared up a slight knocking in the steering wheel when turning at low speeds, like in a parking lot, etc. I was thoroughly impressed by the improvement.

I'd look that up, a job most weekend-tinkerers can get away with doing themselves without causeing serious damage.
