it could be an option on the impala and they just use the same wiring harness. you know gm and making things work for multiple cars to save themselves money!

Wow very interesting. I was looking all over the wiring diagram and everything else to find out what it was. It really IS "The plug to nowhere"

The book I have is one of the Haynes books so it just shows a 3800 wiring harness. I don't think it would be an extra option on the impala that would cause to use the same harness BUT I wonder if it is because they used the same harness for the 3400 and 3800?

Things that make you say HMMMMMmmm.

Don't know the answer to that. I guess there is many different types of 3800 setups on the stock GM cars. The reason I say I don't think its because of the impala is because they 3800 in it is the exact same as the 3800 in the Monte. If you go look at a 3800 Impala you would see the same plug. My buddy has a 3400 Impala though, I will check it next time I see him.

This is confusing! Who has a N\A 3800? I really want to know if this should be connected to something or not? I might have to just go to a used car lot and look at some other montes. lol

I just did the LIM gasket on my car and I noticed the connector before I started taking things apart and it wasn't attached to anything. I looked around quite a bit to find it a mate but there just wasn't anything there. I found it loose on its own and when I put things back together I left it as is, by itself. No CEL lights, all guages are accurate and function, no issues at all. I've got the 3.8 N/A.

This is weird! The majority say no but I still would like to know how or why that plug is there then if its not supposed to be plugged in.

The Mystery Continues........
