Default Please Help...

My 98 Monte has always run just fine, but recently there has been a high-pitched noise coming from what seems to be just under the alternator, perhaps with one of the pulleys or something. My dad said it might be a loose bearing. Then I was driving down the road and the damn belt came completely off. It was still in the engine bay so I put it back on but the noise is still there and I don't know what the problem is. All the puleys seem to be turning just fine and the belt also seemed to be in good condition. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

what engine is the car equipt with. take and use a long pry bar or screw driver to each pulley and try to narrow downwhere the noise is coming from. you dont have a fluid leak anywhere around the belt p/s, coolant. what kinda shape is the belt in. no serious cracks try that let us know. you are using the prybar or screwdriver as a stethescope.
