Opinion Needed: Plastic upper intake blew up!!

Keep in mind, the intake explosion was not a result of the intake failing. The explosion was fuel vapors that leaked into the intake and igniting. This is NOT a normal situation.

Someone else may, but I don't have good advise to catch a failing fuel pressure regulator prior to this situation. Only think I know if to disconnect the vac line and check for wet fuel inside.

I have NO idea what the aluminum intake on the Series III would do. I know when I fit that aluminum intake on my Monte, I also powder coated the fuel rail and used that as a good time to get a shiny/new FPR.

I replaced the intake and shes purring now. I had to buy a new fuel rail because mine actually bent pretty bad and the fuel hose leading to the fuel rail cracked pretty bad aswell. Thanks for all the help though. Shes my roling project now lol

To check the fuel pressure regulator, while the car is running, disconnect the vacuum hose going to it and if you see fuel leaking out, it needs to be replaced pronto.

Already replaced it when i got a newer fuel rail.
