Performance chips for my Monte

Performance chips for my Monte
I have a 95 z34. I already have the K&N intake and high flow exhaust and I am interested in a performance chip before I do any major upgrades. Can someone point me in the right direction as what maker to buy from, how much should I look to spend for a good one, ect. I've done some searching on the forums but most of the performance questions were related to new monte carlos.

RE: Performance chips for my Monte
there are performance chips for you monte on eBay, but myself and the rest of the members on this forum can tell you they are just wastes of your hard-earned money.you got to get a retuned pcm, and for the 3.4 i don't know where you'd find one. theres a member here called DigitalPhoenix but he isn't on that much, who is an expert on that engine.
start looking for tuning programs if you have a laptop.

What would I need to use the tuning program? Do I need someone with experience to help me or does the program do a lot of the work for me? What part do I need to connect the laptop to the car? I have heard Hp tuners are good but do I really need to buy the suite for 500? Sorry for so many questions.

The many questiosn is perfectly understandable... I came on a little over a year and half ago asking many of the same questions.
The hook up for you car will come with the suite. I didn't have a laptop a year ago when I got more car dyno-tunedat Carolina Auto Masters in Durham, NC by a man with a dyno and an HP tuning program. I got that done for $300. If I had a laptop at the time, I would have bought the program and done it myself though. It will take a long time to learn the program. It's not something you just pick up and learn in 10 minutes like alot of video games. It will tkae you a lot of time and a lot of reading about the program before you really get good and really get some good tuning done to your car.

I think I would rather take it to a place and have it done since it cost less than buying everything and they have more experience. Does anyone know of any places around Detroit that do a good job?
