Default Passkey bypass - successful

My 1996 Lumina would suffer intermittent issues with the Passkey security system. The ignition had worn to the point were the resistor chip in the key was not being read by the computer. So, occasionally the security system would shut down the starting system for the required 2-3 minutes. Annoying! I bought a bypass module from Ecklers Corvettes for $27. It simply plugs into the wiring harness under the dash - bypasssing the ignition. Works great. Since the replacement - no starting issues, no security light on the dash. Would work on 1995-1999 Montes as well. You just have to know the resistance of your key and order the correct bypass.

Passlock is harder to bypass than Passkey.

Im having the same problem with my 99-3.1L. Every since I bought this car I've had starting problems. At first I had problems with the VAT System. Security Light Flashing, Turning the key getting nothing(Dashboard lights up). After spending $$$.$$, i finally have the VAT System disconnected/By-passing the system. This worked for awhile. I replaced new starter. Alt, and Battery too. Now Im having problems again, sometimes I turn key and get nothing. wait a few mins. and she starts right up no problem.
