Glad that helped Bossross. The Dorman does include the tube. Found a post on another forum with explanation. You would be wise to replace the original LIM gasket with an improved Felpro metal reinforced gasket while you're at it. You're already 80% there. You might also want to replace the fuel pressure regulator, a 5 minute job.

Avendo; UIM is Upper Intake Manifold. LIM is Lower Intake Manifold.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION....Here is some information that might be helpful to anyone facing one of these plenum failures.

I just found out that Dorman (a supplier of auto parts that were formerly "dealer only" parts) makes a redesigned&improved plenum for these cars. [Dorman says that whenever possible, they correct the design problem that caused the original part to fail]

Surprisingly, it is sold by Amazon.com, which has the best price out there ($74.37) - and - free shipping (as of January 21, 2011)

It is called the Dorman 615-180 Intake Manifold...and comes complete with all assembly pieces, including gaskets, to do the job. It fits all of the Buick, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet and Pontiac cars that have this plenum problem.

Amazon.com: Dorman 615-180 Intake Manifold: Automotive Amazon.com: Dorman 615-180 Intake Manifold: Automotive
)

Here is what Dorman says about it:
This Improved Intake Manifold plenum has reinforced wall material in failure-prone areas for excellent durability. This plenum greatly resists cracking whereas the O-E does not, especially at the throttle body coolant passage where the EGR gases corrode the walls of the coolant passage.

Bossross, found this Dorman UIM on ebay. Here's some good pic's of the UIM and tube and you might be able to save a few bucks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dorman-615-1...6b62c6&vxp=mtr

After looking at the UIM on ebay, I don't recommend bidding on it. Looks like a scam. Unless they changed it, the throttle body gasket on a Dorman is red not blue, and the tube is black not white. Looks like they took the Dorman out and put another brand in the Dorman box. Here's another listing for a Dorman that shows the tube separate and the red gasket. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dorman-615-1...48519a&vxp=mtr

thanks bob. got a dorman one with all the gaskets and the tube
parts geek 102 with shipping

is the lim gasket you speak of the one between uim and lim
thought the regulator was out on the rail, wouldn't I leave it alone or could that be part of the lean condition

I wouldn't think so cuz we found the leak and then I would expect it all to be lean
it looks like melted debris may have caused the iac malfunction

thanks again, enjoy your weekend

No, the LIM gasket is between the LIM and the valley of the block. I'm suggesting you replace it because if it's original it will eventually leak. The original is made of nylon and degrades prematurely. Replace it with a Felpro metal reinforced one and be done with it. It's not that much more work if you already have the UIM off. Same thing with the fuel pressure regulator. There were some bad ones that went through the assembly line and GM recalled them. The problem in conjunction with the UIM meltdown causes the UIM to explode. It has nothing to do with lean condition, just a suggestion for you as long as you " have everything open".
