Default overheating

Is this a common problem with mc,my new problem is the gauge goes up to about half and then goes back down.I put in a new thermostat, water pump, drained the system twice, tried purging it no antifreeze comes out. When should the fans go on,checking them out today. Thanks again for all the help

Halfway on the gauge is the stock reading for the 195° thermostat

Fans kick on at 212°

Just was wondering if the temperature rose while stopped in traffic, then went down when moving because that would be 100% normal.

When you replaced the thermostat, you bled the air out completely correct?

You just open the thermostat bleed screw and wait for the car to get to normal operating temperature where the thermostat would open. Could take 10-15 minutes

Yes, once the antifreeze starts to come out is when you stop and tighten the bleeder back up.
